In 2011, my primary goal was to ride 1,000 miles in support of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I accomplished this goal on Sunday, September 4th. On Sunday, October 16th, I surpassed the 7,000 mile mark for my One for All initiative and the 1,300 mile mark for the season.
My One for All grassroots fund raising initiative accomplished the following in 2011:
TOTAL MILEAGE = 1,525.3 miles
During this cycling season, which began on March 19 and ended on December 4, I rode a total of 1,525.3 miles, which was my second best seasonal mileage total so far. However, it was still 603.1 miles less than my record-breaking season of 2010.
MY CONTRIBUTION TO LAF = $381.85
I personally contributed $381.85 to LAF in 2011, compared with $533 to LAF in 2010, $370 in 2009, $308 in 2008, and $228 in 2007.
ONE FOR ALL'S CONTRIBUTION TO LAF IN 2010 = $1,013.85
This figure combines my $381.85 contribution with the $632 that I collected from friends and family. My four year total contribution to LAF now stands at $5,922.85.
RIDING TIME = 120 hours, 30 minutes and 48 seconds
Riding time refers to my cumulative riding time for all my rides. This year's total was equivalent to three 40-hour work weeks on the saddle.
NUMBER OF RIDES = 76
I rode 76 times in 2011, which was my second best seasonal total.
AVERAGE SPEED = 12.77 mph
LONGEST RIDE = 50.1 miles
On Sunday, September 11th (the tenth anniversary of 9/11), I rode 50.1 miles.
LATEST RIDE = December 4
My only record-breaking statistic in 2011 was the lateness of my final ride. In fact, my final two rides were in December, which I had not done previously.
I also participated in the following organized rides in 2011:
